In my practice, by face to face sessions or by using online confidential therapy, I work with clients to feel comfortable and to form a bond, based on trust, that will foster a relaxed positive therapeutic interaction. It is important to me that, from the very first session, the client can communicate his or her story and feels heard, so that I can understand the presenting issues, communicate hope, and formulate mutually agreeable goals to achieve in our work together. I have over 18 years of experience treating clients suffering from relationship or financial issues, depression, anxiety, addiction, life transitions such acculturation, job change, or retirement. I enjoy working with individual adults and couples, am fluent in Spanish, and have a good communication understanding of Portuguese. Based on client's presenting issues, my treatment approach varies from concrete problem solving, using mindfulness, or on working to recognize and speak for one's parts following the Internal Family Systems, (IFS), model, EMDR, Hypnosis and/or psychodynamic approaches. I am sensitive to diversity, multicultural, and adjustment situations.
Sometimes it is difficult and scary to make sense of feelings, learning how to manage them, and being able to find healthy ways to cope while creating and fostering self-awareness. Therapy is a safe space and a confidential grounding process that through time, consistency and working together will allow you to identify and develop a healthy voice to express thoughts and feelings. I strive to help clients understand their emotional conflicts, behavioral repetitions, and their inner-self by empathetically assisting them in working through emotional difficulties and life struggles. Feeling empowered in being proactive about our health and understanding the steps towards change is a powerful and vital process to feel seen and heard.

I hope to provide a safe space each week that allows you a break from the responsibilities and expectations of work, family, and friends to focus on yourself. In a day and age, where we are always accessible and an immediate response is generally expected from us majority of the time, the decision to actively make time to focus on your own needs deserves praise in itself. My hope is that by helping you prioritize yourself for just one hour each week, that the other 167 hours of your week will feel more useful…providing hope that tomorrow will be better than today.
Whether you are battling depression, struggling with anxiety, going through a painful loss or need someone to ‘just listen,’ I provide an environment where you feel valued and heard while offering encouragement, support and some objective–yet caring feedback. You have all the tools you need to achieve your goals; my role is to help you rediscover those tools and your own personal gift of insight.

I can help you change your relationship with your partner, your family, a friend, or yourself! People are often challenged by difficult emotions or challenging relationships. Instead of facing this task head-on, you may distract yourself with unhealthy habits like over-drinking, improper eating, excessive social media or video game playing. While these techniques may help in the moment, they can make the problem worse. If you are avoiding the challenge, you will not find the peace!
Wouldn't it be nice if you could say: "I have relationships that make me happy; I am present in my life and the lives of others; I treat myself with compassion; I have healthy hobbies; I find my work meaningful, and I feel satisfied with my life."
I use a variety of approaches and I will tailor our work to each individual. Techniques include CBT, EFT and family therapy. My specialties include work-life balance, couples counseling and men’s issues, but I am well-versed in helping with anxiety, depression, adjusting to a life change, and other issues. If you are ready to jump in, call or email today!

Relationships can be very challenging and complicated both with others and ourselves. If you find yourself in a place questioning repetitive thoughts or feeling emotions that may be roadblocks for personal growth, therapy is an opportunity for you to explore and grow both personally and interpersonally. We are all made up of many parts and often times we have a couple parts of us, such as an angry part or anxious part, that we feel defined by. Often times these parts prevent us from living our truest and fullest selves. I promise to be fully present and committed in helping you understand these difficult parts and how they may be preventing you from feeling like yourself. I have a very interactive style and will work with you at a pace you are comfortable with to help you find peace and harmony with yourself and in your life.
In my work as a therapist, I focus on understanding early experiences and how psychological well-being can be fostered through relationships. I believe change and healing come through relationships: our relationships with ourselves, as well as our relationships with others. I view therapy as a collaborative process that allows both therapist and client to grow and change.
I practice primarily from a relational-dynamic perspective, though I incorporate techniques from cognitive behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and narrative approaches to tailor treatment to the unique and individual needs of each client.
My clients describe me as an empathetic, active listener who approaches their concerns with caring, respect, pragmatism, and sometimes, humor. I'm honored that you're considering working with me and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
