Professional statement

Dr. Heather Schatten is a psychologist at the group practice RICBT in East Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Schatten leads a DBT group therapy program at RICBT. Her groups serve as a supplement to individual therapy, and she happily refers her clients to individual therapists if needed.

Dr. Schatten specializes in treating the emotion dysregulation that underlies personality disorders (especially borderline personality disorder), depression, anxiety, and self-harm. Her DBT group focuses on skills acquisition, and she teaches mindfulness practices, emotion regulation tools, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills.
