What is Lifespan Outpatient Psychiatry and Urgent Care?
Lifespan Outpatient Psychiatry and Urgent Care is a walk-in facility located in East Providence and East Greenwich, RI that provides urgent and ongoing treatment for a variety of mental health challenges.
Staffed by a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed and master social workers and community treatment specialists, we offer tailored, personal, and coordinated treatment for patients age 18 and older experiencing emergent and non-emergent mental and behavioral health challenges.
What outpatient services do you provide?
Our program provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, psychopharmacologic consultations, long-term psychiatric care, interpersonal, supportive, cognitive behavioral and individual therapy as well as couples and family therapy and group therapy.
We offer treatment for mental health challenges including:
Mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder
Anxiety disorders, including OCD and PTSD
What does urgent care entail?
If you or someone you care about is in need of immediate mental health services, we are here to help. We welcome walk-in patients (ages 18 and older) who require an urgent evaluation for mental health treatment.
Urgent care services include:
Onsite mental health assessment Monday - Saturday
Access to crisis psychiatry as necessary
Crisis stabilization services
Family education and support
Referral to all Lifespan psychiatry and behavioral health services
What is the difference between East Providence and East Greenwich?
Both the East Providence and East Greenwich locations see walk-in urgent care patients. If you are in need of urgent psychiatric care, go to the clinic closest to you.
If it is determined that you will best be served by ongoing outpatient care, at East Providence, you will have the option to continue seeing Eunice Wharton, LICSW, or another licensed clinician in the practice. At East Greenwich, you will be seen by a Qualified Mental Health Professional, who will assist you in finding an ongoing outpatient provider for you, either within Rhode Island Hospital or in the community.

Typical wait time to be seen by a clinician is immediate, if not less than an hour.
