At Mend Counseling, we believe that lasting change is possible and that individuals can learn to heal and grow from painful experiences through a warm, inviting, and non-judgmental environment. Mend offers holistic and integrated services for children, adolescents, and adults. Our therapists partner with individuals to create achievable goals and provide a treatment plan that is tailored to each person’s unique needs, objectives, and developmental level. Our clinicians have experience working in a variety of inpatient, outpatient, hospital, private practice, and agency settings.

Annie Tam, LPC, specializes in working with mothers and young women in building self-confidence, finding identity and purpose, and creating an intentional, wholehearted life. She is EMDR Certified and offers coaching and consulting services in addition to counseling.

Michelle Torres, LCSW, LCDC, supports adults and teens healing from trauma, anxiety, and those desiring to improve their emotional well-being. She is an EMDR Certified clinician and trained in DBT.

Meagan Parks, LPC, RPT specializes in working with young children, adolescents and their parents supporting a range of psychological and emotional challenges through play, activity and talk therapy; including eating disorders, disordered eating, anxiety, depression, grief and loss and body-image concerns.

Using a variety of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Jackie Matney, LPC helps clients is to build resilience against depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, interpersonal conflict, suicidality, and self-image issues, so that clients may discover wellness.

Nikki Shawn, RD offers nutritional counseling and meal planning utilizing a Health at Every Size approach that helps individuals become free of the guilt and shame surrounding eating.

How does payment work at your practice?

Mend Counseling is an out-of-network provider. Each client pays in full at the time of the service, and then we can provide a receipt of services for you. Many of our clients choose to submit these receipts to their insurance for reimbursement, and your reimbursement rate would depend on your specific plan and provider. Our fees range from $135-$175 depending on the counselor and services offered.

What services does your practice offer?

Mend Counseling is a therapy practice in the heart of Dallas, Texas that offers individual, group, play, and family therapy sessions for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as coaching and consulting services. Our registered dietitian provides nutrition counseling, coaching, and menu planning for individuals. Mend Counseling's therapy groups offer individuals coping with stress, anxiety, or trauma a place to connect with others and learn self-care strategies.

What are your practice's specialties?

The therapists at Mend Counseling have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of areas, including work with trauma, anxiety, self-esteem, substance use, interpersonal conflict, eating disorders and difficult transitions and are committed to using a Health At Every Size (HAES) approach. Additionally, our registered dietitian specializes in working with individuals struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, and chronic dieting utilizing Intuitive Eating principles. Our therapists utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques to meet each individual where they are and to help facilitate meaningful change.


Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)

Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse

Eating disorders & disordered eating - Reducing unhealthy eating patterns, beliefs, and behaviors, such as restricting, purging, and binging; healing the emotional pain surrounding disordered eating

Adolescent mental health - Working with adolescents, teenagers, and parents on social, academic, and/or emotional challenges throughout teenage years; addressing anxiety, family conflicts, peer relationships, school stress, transition to college, social media pressures, self-esteem, hopelessness about the future, emotional disregulation

Adjustment difficulties & disorders - Support around adapting to new and/or challenging life circumstances; skill-building for improved self esteem, stress management, and reduction of anxiety.

Pregnancy, perinatal, postpartum mental health - Supporting mothers and their partners throughout the perinatal process from infertility, birth, postpartum and beyond by developing coping strategies, self-care, and 4th trimester preparation and support
