This group teaches participants the cognitive therapy approach to emotional problems. Using a workbook called Mind Over Mood, you will examine and change how you think and act, especially in difficult situations or when you are upset. As you learn to challenge and restructure your thought patterns, and act more effectively in situations, you will be much less vulnerable to negative moods and much better able to manage these moods when they do occur.
Tuesdays 6:30-8pm (12 weeks).
Julie Pearson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice with over 20 years of experience working with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, anger, self-esteem issues, and relationship issues. Recently, she has also developed an interest in supporting women who are experiencing peripartum depression.
One of Julie's passions is running a therapy group, "Mind Over Mood," which teaches individuals concrete Cognitive Behavioral skills to cope with issues such as: Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, OCD, Postpartum Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Panic Disorder, as well as anger or grief issues.
Julie works with clients age 21 and older in individual, family, and group therapy sessions. She strives to provide helpful information and support that will positively impact her clients, and is particularly passionate about conducting therapy groups. Julie worked in a hospital setting for 6 years before joining RICBT. She has experience working with clients at every level of care, from inpatient to outpatient settings.
