The integral approach does not simply melt all theoretical orientations into one or seek some grand unifying common factor, but rather it takes a meta-theoretical perspective, giving general guidelines as to when each of these therapies is most appropriate for use with a client, allowing each approach to retain its individual flavor and utility.
Therapists who employ this comprehensive, multiperspectival approach will gain confidence, strengthen their client work, deepen multicultural and spiritual understanding, and improve their interactions with colleagues of different specialties and orientations. Those who use this as an outline within their practice have found increased retention and compliance, shorter engagement times, and increased efficacy. Even more important, it truly does not require anyone to learn a whole new discipline, the approach simply allows one to reorganize the tools already being used within a framework!
The group was formed due to a variety of needs of which the following four were identified as the main objectives of this group:
- Connection to Colleagues who all share a similar vision in how we approach those we work with and in our desire to help each other thrive in our practice. In doing so, this makes it possible to refer those we serve to others of different specialties with confidence.
- A new approach to Supervision/Consultation that goes beyond the one to one or group model in which one person is the sole guide. This is a group of peers and experienced professionals offering up their time and services to help the community. Those acting as supervisors will be different at each meeting.
- Help in Building Your Practice, providing the knowledge and skills needed to run a successful private practice from those who have demonstrated this ability, from marketing approaches to identifying your audience and the latest applications to the types of electronic note and billing options.
- All agreeing to be Integrally Informed, that is developing/having a firm understanding of the integral approach, fluid in understanding how to implement and utilize the integral model within their practice and with those they serve.
The Integral Therapist meets the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm.
This group is free to attend.
