Professional statement

Andrea Harbeck is a Psychotherapist in Denver Colorado. She works with adults who are experiencing anxiety, mild to moderate depression and the effects of traumatic experiences. Andrea also specializes in supporting adults who identify as, or who were labeled "gifted" at some point in their life. Highly gifted individuals may struggle with self esteem issues, anxiety, depression or other mental health challenges. Andrea approaches therapy with an understanding of the impact that family dynamics and a difficult upbringing can have on how we view and interact with the world as adults. She might challenge you to consider how your childhood experiences have shaped who you are today by looking at your strengths, but also the difficulties that you are experiencing in life. Oftentimes, perfectionism, anxiety, depression and relationship issues are rooted in our past experiences. Through a better understanding of the causes of your current distress Andrea can help you move forward with new insight and better coping skills.

Andrea often incorporates mindfulness based activities such as meditation and breathing exercises to help her clients deal with anxiety and stress. She also use a therapy called EMDR, which has been proven to help people process traumatic experiences and heal their emotional scars. People who have experienced EMDR often feel as though they are no longer triggered by their traumatic experiences, feeling freer, happier and healthier.

As a therapist, Andrea is non-judgmental, caring, genuine and thoughtful. She cherishes the moments when her clients feel simultaneously cared for emotionally while discovering new insights that can change their life. If this resonates with you, feel free to reach out to Andrea to discover who you are and how you can be the happiest and healthiest version of yourself.

Message to clients

Finding someone who is there to listen to you vent and talk about yourself and the things that are important to you in an unbiased and non-judgmental way can be so helpful. It is also fun and exciting to learn new things about yourself! When I work with people, I do my best to see the world through their eyes, but also provide an outside perspective to help them discover new insights. I provide therapy via telehealth making it easy, safe and comfortable for you to meet with me in the privacy of your own space. You deserve this time to commit to yourself and your well-being.
