Angela Carey is  a Licensed Professional Counselor in Austin, Texas. She completed a Masters in Counseling and Guidance from Texas State University and a Bachelor’s of Science from Stephen F. Austin State University. In her professional career, she has been a career and vocational teacher, middle school counselor, substance abuse interventionist, and a mental health counselor working in public schools.

Angela's practice is open to adults and adolescents who are seeking a nurturing and empowering counseling experience. She has helped many families and individuals cope with life transitions, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, impulsivity, and mood disorders. She also counsels adolescents, parents, and adults in the area of substance abuse and provides drug prevention and intervention services through group or individual sessions.

As a client-centered therapist, Angela meets her clients where they are without judgment. She has a holistic approach and views each person as a whole being including the mind, body, and true self. She works with clients to gain awareness of the connections between their emotions, thoughts, behaviors, physical experience, and spiritual understandings.

Angela also encourages self-care and overall wellness with her clients to enhance the mind and body connection. She uses meditation and visualization along with promoting nutritional health in her practice.

Message to clients

I believe life is about continuous learning and growing in order to evolve to your true self by being free of self-judgement and full of self -love. Sometimes we encounter trauma that creates deep hurt and pain. Trauma impacts our body and mind which can then cause us to feel stuck in repeated patterns of behavior that do not serve us. Often our ability to embrace the suffering can feel overwhelming. This is when it becomes important to find the courage to seek out meaningful support that will allow for processing and healing to happen.

Being open to counseling and discovering the honesty of your own heart can help you gain clarity and feel inspired to live the life of your dreams. A life where you are free of shame and able to envision today and tomorrow with hope and full of endless possibilities. Sometimes finding your inspiration involves listening to your intuition and learning how to fully connect with yourself and your heart's desires.

Thanks for reaching out and exploring therapy options. Finding the right therapist and fit is important and I am glad you're seeking support at this time. I'm here for you, if you feel it's right for you at this time. Take care.
