Professional statement

Anna is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Registered Art Therapist and Certified Play Therapist based on the Westside of Los Angeles. Anna works with a variety of clients including adults, children, teenagers and families. Clients come to see Anna to feel a level of support that allows them to express themselves through whatever language suits them best, whether this be verbal or through art and play. Oftentimes parents seek out Anna’s training in art and play therapies in order to support their child to connect with an understanding adult. Anna works to support the whole family when possible, knowing that a child client is not coming to the therapy office in a vacuum but rather is impacted by the needs of his/her surroundings. Anna’s clients have struggles through life transitions, stress management, behavioral concerns, trauma, and relationship issues.

Anna’s approach is dependent on the needs of the client. Anna specializes in art and play therapies, but knows to take the cues from the client to explore what approach will be more supportive. Art and play serve as a supportive tools for adults, even if it’s just the understanding of the appreciation of the meaning of art and play rather than the practice in a therapy session. Grounding techniques are taught and cultivated in sessions. Anna encourages clients to explore and trust their emotional needs to gain needed insight. The gut is a very telling tool. Anna utilizes an eclectic approach, gleaning from attachment therapies and family systems work in order to try to address the bigger needs that the client may be expressing.

Anna hopes to build relationships with clients that offer them the space to feel heard and seen. Anna is hopeful that her clients are able to get their needs met in sessions, even when this seems like an intangible idea. Anna also understands that therapy is about fit and appropriate support and likes to make sure that the client feels that Anna is the best fit for the level of understanding needed in therapy.

Anna received her Bachelors in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2005 and her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy & Clinical Art Therapy from Loyola Marymount University in 2009. She received a certification in Play Therapy from the University of California San Diego Extension program in 2018.

Message to clients

Therapy serves as the space to explore your inner workings, process experiences that have impacted your being, and work towards a more complete understanding of your needs and functioning within relationships. And it’s also necessary at times to use the space to laugh and discuss what you’ve been snacking on. My job is to be the therapist who offers this space and balance for my clients.

I enjoy being the human in a room with another human, working to support the engagement process and encourage insight and growth. I work with children, adolescents and adults. My background in art therapy and play therapy can be used if desired as a means of expression for clients of all ages. I look forward to being a support to my clients and to build relationships based on health and communication.
