Professional statement

Charisse Ferrer is a Licensed Professional Counselor located in Houston, TX. Charisse helps individuals feel more connected to themselves and others. Often, Charisse’s clients feel anxious or unsure in the face of disconnection. She provides support as they rekindle their love for themselves and navigate daily life. Charisse also provides therapy for couples who would like to grow closer, solve problems together, and learn more about their relationship.

Charisse’s approach, especially with couples, comes from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT emphasizes the role of emotions when it comes to identity. By providing a warm, comfortable space for clients to explore their emotions, Charisse helps them find their authentic, strong self-identities. She often asks clients to describe other relationships in their lives to find insight into attachment style. If there’s any harmful patterns that show up, Charisse helps clients move past these patterns.

Charisse earned her Master’s degree from the University of Houston. Her dedication to connection shows up in her compassionate style in session with clients. She’s a strong advocate for mental health care for all and works hard to reduce barriers to accessing therapy.

Message to clients

The type of therapy that I do is interactive, exploratory, and collaborative. I’m also not the type to do much head-nodding and only observing from a distance. I am right there alongside you, guiding you through some of your toughest emotional and mental roadblocks. I hope to not only help you manage your daily stressors, but to help you create lasting, meaningful change and successful ways of communicating.

Together, we will address what throws you into interpersonal turmoil that prevents you from having secure ways of connecting with yourself and others. Without this connection, you end up behaving in ways that leave you feeling alone or maybe even questioning your love for the ones who matter to you the most.

You sharing all the parts of your story - the hurt, the anger, the joy - can help us both gain an understanding of you and your partnerships. I believe that you are the expert in knowing your unique experiences, and I trust you have very good reasons for doing the things you do. I will assist you in finding aspects of your stories that you usually don’t pay attention to (or maybe don’t want to pay attention to).

I continue to recognize the power of closeness and meaningful connection and how it can heal painful experiences related to trauma, betrayal, and detachment. Sometimes in the process of repairing things that have been broken, we can create something stronger, more beautiful, and more resilient.
