Professional statement

Darcy Scott is a Licensed Professional Counselor located in Austin, TX. As a clinician, Darcy sees many clients who feel stuck in their lives or daunted by the amount of decisions they must make each day. Darcy often helps clients manage their anxieties, whether that’s anxiety over entering adulthood, after the birth of a child, in a relationship, or associated with major life changes.

In a session with Darcy, clients often share their stories. Darcy believes that underneath the present-day symptoms are narratives, memories, and patterns that shape who we are. At the beginning of the therapeutic relationship, Darcy will support clients in setting goals - and helps them get there by providing education, growing coping skills, and offering a warm, friendly atmosphere. She often brings laughter into sessions and even offers walking therapy for those who enjoy movement while processing through their thoughts and feelings.

Darcy earned her Master’s degree from St. Edwards University. She’s a certified equine-assisted psychotherapy/learning (EAP/L) practitioner for those who feel close connections to animals. Darcy’s background includes work with neuro disorders and education, giving her a wide expertise that she brings into her sessions. Darcy values authentic relationships with clients and enjoys helping others through their mental health journeys.

Message to clients

My aim as a therapist is to give you a space so you can break the patterns that are holding you back. I believe that people often operate from the basis of their story: what has happened in their lives and what they know and how they feel. I will help you understand your collection of experiences of thoughts and feelings in order to assist you in reaching goals, and essentially, to get where you want to go. I will do my best to understand you, and I am willing to laugh or cry with you - especially laugh. If you are seeking healing and longing, I am here to help.

I offer individual counseling, teletherapy, walk and talk sessions, and equine assisted psychotherapy/learning (EAP/L) sessions. I'm not your typical therapist, I'm going laugh with you, make bad puns, and give you homework - but through it all I will keep you accountable and adapt our sessions to meet your needs and keep it as fun as possible.

My love language is quality time and my main values in life are connected relationships and community. That translates into how I believe the most critical step in a therapeutic relationship is establishing a good rapport - that way you can feel comfortable to get out the things you have been holding you back. Give me a call and see if it is a good fit.
