Professional statement

Erica Miller, LICSW, has been a psychotherapist for 40 years. She has specialized in adult mental health, including substance abuse, ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. She also has expertise in parenting challenges and child development.

She is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy. She begins with solution focused, objective, measurable treatment goals developed by the client. She does trauma-informed work in stages to increase success. She incorporates relaxation training, breathwork, meditation and mindfulness practices to enhance traditional psychotherapy.

She earned a Master’s degree in professional psychology from Edinboro State University and Master’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers University.

After serving as a caseworker in residential treatment centers for adolescents, she was a clinician at Chenango Community Mental Health Center. There she became a senior clinician. Most of her subsequent work was as clinician at SSTAR, an outpatient mental health center that specialized in treating adults with substance abuse and other mental disorders. She was coordinator of SSTAR intensive outpatient program for substance abuse recovery, then became director of SSTAR outpatient mental health services. During this time, she also provided outpatient mental health services to children ages 3-21. Currently she is a clinical supervisor to a therapeutic mentor program at Child and Family Services.

She is available for remote services.

Message to clients

Imagine the change you want to realize. This is a solution focused approach that keeps the focus on your goals.

In 40 years of broad experience as a psychotherapist, I have had the privilege of treating individuals, couples and families from age 3 to 80 plus, for a great variety of problems.

My professional foundation is cognitive behavioral therapy; that is working with the connection between actions, thoughts and emotions, changing problematic behaviors and thoughts to reduce emotional distress. I integrate body-mind techniques such as relaxation training, breathwork and meditation into traditional psychotherapy. I can help you to develop healthy coping skills to deal with past trauma and current stress.

Although most clients are interested in a brief course of treatment that has immediate results, I also have expertise in helping people manage challenging conditions such as ADHD, bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression through coaching and long-term support.

I am delighted to facilitate the use of your own strengths and inner wisdom to reach your goals.
