Professional statement

Frances works with children, adolescents, parents and families. Her goal is to see clients THRIVE, not just survive. Her approach depends on the client’s age and their specific challenges.

- Younger children engage in play therapy with Frances, in a safe, friendly environment where they can freely express and learn about themselves.

- An exploration of life experiences and moods help older children, adolescents and young adults to recognize how their unique pain points are contributing to disabling their potential . At a pace with which you are comfortable, Frances encourages the development of healthy coping skills and a growth mindset, in order to empower you to put your best foot forward each day.

- Parenting is the most important but toughest job on the planet. Conversations on how to co-parent, regardless of whether parents are together or separated, can become heated and painful. Frances joins with both parents to find the best child-centered parenting approaches, allowing for the unique relationship dynamic between co-parents. Frances also offers a 12-week structured course for those who have been court-ordered to attend a co-parenting class.

- In some situations, Frances works with several family members together, to create positive and supportive interactions between adults and children.

Frances has a graduate degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University and trained at three different clinical centers in Los Angeles, before launching her own private practice.

Frances has returned to seeing clients in-person. However, if you prefer, remote sessions via video-conferencing are also available.

Her office is located at 12304 Santa Monica Blvd. (on the border of Santa Monica and West Los Angeles). If street parking is not available (which it usually is), you can park under the building, for $5 an hour (free on weekdays after 6pm and all weekend).

Message to clients

In one day, your child's life can be awesome, terrifying, exciting, boring, simple, difficult, (fill in the blank)!

Sometimes, your child shares themselves with you. Other times, they struggle with verbal communication or they withdraw into their own bubble. You want to ease their pain but life has thrown them a curve ball - divorce, death of a loved one, changing homes or schools, a new sibling or maybe the everyday challenges of just being are overwhelming. Are you wondering if your child could benefit from therapy?

If you are, give me a call. I want to understand your concerns and hopes. I will ask you questions regarding your child's interactions with family members and peers, their engagement in academic and non-academic activities and exposure to challenging life events. If I think I can help, I usually have three to five sessions with your child, followed by a check-in with you to discuss what I have observed and my thoughts on how best to move forward. Check-ins between us will be ongoing as I believe partnering with parents is critical to the success of child therapy. Don't worry if you are not sure how to talk to your child about therapy. I can provide guidance for this conversation.

If the dynamics between co-parents are unpleasant, I can facilitate child-centered co-parenting conversations. Remember, its a parent’s actions that have the most impact, not necessarily the act of separation itself.

YOU are your child's greatest asset!

I look forward to speaking with you.
