Professional statement

Jen Polite is a board certified (NCC) and licensed (LMHC) New York Psychotherapist. She works non-judgmentally with individuals seeking personal growth and change to manage anxiety, depression, transitions, and situational stress. She conducts sessions in English and in Spanish. Her therapeutic approach is holistic, psychoeducational, and psychodynamic in nature. Her practice is rooted in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and tailored to the needs of the individual. She works with clients to identify specific areas they seek to improve, and focuses treatment on the whole individual, taking into account personal, circumstantial, and social factors.

Through the NYC Department of Health’s Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) she serves as an emergency mental health volunteer. She felt compelled to join MRC after her volunteer work with the American Red Cross during the events on September 11th. Previously, Jen spent over 10 years working in finance, holding business management and business development roles within investment banks and in FinTech. Currently, in addition to private practice Jen is also a Mental Health Features Contributor for print and electronic media.

Jen is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the American Counseling Association (ACA),), the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI), New York Mental Health Counselors Association (NYMHCA), and is affiliated with the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP). She also holds certifications in Trial-Based Cognitive Therapy, Mental Health First Aid, and Trauma Psychotherapy.
