Professional statement

Jennifer DiSomma is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder and owner of LIC Marriage and Family Therapy PLLC located in New York City. They are a group private practice specializing in working with couples, individuals, and families who are feeling 'stuck' and going through various life transitions.

Whether it be anxiety, relationship/marital issues, self-esteem, and/or just overall feelings of being overwhelmed and stressed, Jennifer uses her warm, genuine, compassionate, and directive approach to help her clients navigate through these challenges. Jennifer helps her clients feel heard and understood by creating a safe and collaborative environment. She strives to create a safe space where her clients feel accepted without the fear of judgment.

Jennifer's approach is rooted in the Gottman Method and Imago Therapy, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapt (CBT). Her therapeutic style works to build connection in your interpersonal relationships and within yourself. Jennifer is a strong advocate for being kinder to yourself. She helps empower her clients to identify their strengths and self-worth. Her goal is to restore and transform connections with the couples, individuals, and families she works with.

Jennifer also facilitates a weekly divorce support group and new/expecting moms group. These groups were designed to help people interact, socialize, provide support, psychoeducation, and relate to one another during these challenging times.

To ensure the safety and health of her clients, Jennifer's practice is currently only telehealth at this time.

Message to clients

Welcome! If you have found yourself coming across this page, there is a good chance you are considering therapy as an option for you. You are probably wondering am I the kind of person who would be able to understand you and guide you along your journey. I understand this is an overwhelming experience to put your trust, vulnerability, and time into this process and want to ensure the therapist you choose to work with is a good fit for you.

There is much research on what makes therapy most effective and findings suggest that therapy is most beneficial when you feel supported and understood by your therapist. My personal and professional experiences over the years have molded my warm, genuine, compassionate, and directive therapeutic style. Many times people do not have a safe space to share such personal information, so it is a priority for me to create that type of environment for my clients. I see my role as meeting my clients where they are, in order to help empower them to where they would like to go next.

I have noticed that the more time you invest in yourself, the more your relationships strengthen with others. I believe those who seek out therapy have a willingness to challenge themselves and have a desire to achieve self-growth which leads them to making positive changes in themselves.

There is no time better than now. Lets get started on your transformation today.
