Professional statement

Jessica Gillespie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Pasadena, CA. She specializes in supporting individuals, couples and families who are in transition – specifically, if a family member is in treatment (or has recently been discharged) or struggling with abuse, trauma, eating disorders or chemical dependency. It is very important to Jessica that she respects her clients’ philosophies, values and goals in therapy. As she works with a family, she is sensitive to the experience of being invited in and only offers solutions.

Jessica’s clinical style is a collaborative and strengths-based approach. This means that you will be the expert on your life and you both will work together towards your goals. Jessica’s role is to highlight your inherent resilience and fortitude. While looking at past and current hardships, she helps to explore what meaning these experiences have had on your life and identity. Jessica serves as a witness to the pain and also as a guide to shape new meaning in your life and relationships going forward. Jessica tends to give plenty of space for humor, laughter and mistakes because life can be messy, tragic and hilarious.

Jessica received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from California State University, Long Beach. She started her internship with the Pepperdine Community Clinic where she was trained in Narrative Therapy. Jessica continued her work at the Orange County Rescue Mission/Village of Hope providing counseling services to homeless individuals, couples and families, and led a support group for women with Methamphetamine addiction.

In 2013, Jessica joined the Reasons Eating Disorder Treatment Center as a Program Therapist in the Inpatient, Residential and Partial Programs working with adolescents, adults and families. Jessica worked as both a Program Manager and Director of the Residential facilities. Currently, Jessica is a Senior Clinical Supervisor for the Reasons Residential Programs. Jessica has extensive experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) and is trained in the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM).

Message to clients

Thank you for visiting my Zencare listing! Finding the right therapist can be a daunting task and can be an overwhelming process to begin with. I’m honored you’ve considered me for this important relationship in your life. Take a look around my listing/website and please reach out by email/phone if you have any questions or would like to get to know me a little better.

Relationships are important to me. I am passionate about the work I do, not only because I have an opportunity to offer healing and help others feel empowered and centered in their lives, but because I have a chance to connect with another human being. I believe in the power of our humanity: to be fundamentally flawed, to experience real pain and loss, and to thrive when we feel allied in community.
