Professional statement

Jessica Morgan LMSW is an experiential psychotherapist based in Long Island, NY, she works with individuals, focusing on activists, caregiving professionals, and creative artists. Many of her clients excel in generating compassion for others but struggle to direct this empathy and compassion towards themselves in their daily lives. Jessica is particularly sensitive to clients facing feelings of burnout, compassion fatigue, existential crises, and who feel stuck or hopeless in their professional and personal life. When the delicate balance between hope and despair becomes too much to toggle between many caregivers, activists, artists, and change-makers experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, and self-doubt.

Jessica’s approach is rooted in Gestalt Therapy, an experiential approach that focuses on helping clients make contact with their feelings, within their body, in the present so that they can begin to make healthy and aligned choices regarding things like self-care and boundaries. She works to help clients create awareness of their physical response to their environment and begin to enact self-compassion, acceptance, and a caring attitude towards the self in order to choose to make intrinsic changes.

Jessica is focused on ensuring that her clients see real progress: her style is co-creative, non-judgmental, radically accepting and positions clients as the experts of their own experience. As a social justice advocate herself, Jessica is sensitive to the influence of culture, oppression, identity, and the intersection of individual-collective experiences on present challenges, and works closely with clients to liberate their internal ecosystem in a way that increases self-confidence and compassion.

Jessica’s first priority in starting with a new client is ensuring that they feel safe, heard, and like an equal partner in the therapeutic process. Jessica offers both in-person and telehealth appointments.

Message to clients

I don't give advice. I give space.

Sometimes the most difficult thing we can do as healers, helpers, activists, and change-makers is make space for ourselves. As a social worker, climate activist, and social justice advocate, I deeply understand the need for YOU to make space for YOU.

Allowing ourselves to feel our feelings, rest, and JUST BE is a powerful antidote to "the grind." Burnout is a real thing and it's a place none of us want to be yet, for many, it's a place we can't stop circling back to. The world is an overwhelming place with lots of problems that you are helping to solve. We know we can't solve these problems alone and, yet, many of us are left feeling stuck, isolated, and exhausted in existential despair or dread in the areas we are working so hard to change.

My practice offers you a space to CONNECT with another person in these feelings. This is how we rise up from the quicksand of feeling depleted; we hold onto one another, we pause, and let our authentic self rise to the top.
