Professional statement

Dr. John Vincent is a Licensed Psychologist in Houston, Texas; Board Certified in Clinical Psychology; and, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He's been a practicing psychologist for many years. People usually seek him out following some crisis or trauma in their life. They may be struggling with important relationships or dealing with the ravages of anxiety or depression. His approach is very straightforward. He tries to help people identify what is working or not working and help them learn new and effective ways to turn things around.

In many ways a therapist is like a teacher. If fact, In addition to practicing psychology for all of his professional career he has also been a university professor where he's had the pleasure of teaching the next generation of clinical psychologists. Being in a university has also helped him keep on top of the latest developments in the field with the goal of identifying therapies that really work.

The process of therapy is an exciting journey of self-discovery. He believes that human beings are enormously resilient and given the right tools and self- knowledge, we all can get back on track to a more rewarding and fulfilling life. He loves working with people from all backgrounds and walks of life. If he can be of help to you in achieving your goals and improving your life or relationships, he would be honored to work with you.

Dr. Vincent sees clients in person or virtually. His office is located at 24 E. Greenway Plaza, Suite 1703, which is just inside the 610 loop.

Message to clients

Dear prospective client: Thank for your checking out my information. As a psychologist and marriage and family therapist with many years of experience, I work with all types of emotional and relationship challenges.

I like to start by learning about your background – how your family and life experiences have made you the person you are. I then like to focus on a simple question – if you are able to achieve everything you want in therapy, how will your life be different? We then use that perspective to lay out realistic objectives and a plan to realize those objectives. As a university professor in addition to being a practicing psychologist, I’ve dedicated my professional life to learning the most effective approaches to therapy. Based on that knowledge, we collaborate to develop a customized plan for you if the focus is on just you as an individual or both you and your partner if we are working on relationship goals. We then put that plan into action, checking in to make sure that we are making progress toward achieving your goals.

Helping people have the most meaningful life possible is the central theme of my life’s work. I’d be honored to work with you in achieving a more rewarding and joyful life.
