Professional statement

Mao Beckett LCSW, LICSW provides liberation-oriented mental health care as a millennial therapist, a first generation American, and child of Cambodian immigrants and refugees. She helps first-time therapy seekers let go of their people-pleasing guilt and shame to reclaim their energy, set boundaries, and stand tall in who they really are. As an inclusive therapist striving to decolonize mental health care and healing, she incorporates an ethical framework of psychotherapy, spiritual and healing of the mind, community, body, and spirit. She is independently licensed to practice therapy in Massachusetts, Guam, and Hawaii.

Her lived experience as a first generation American, mother, military veteran and spouse, alongside her formal education, training, and clinical knowledge allows her to support and guide you in a meaningful way where you feel validated and heard. In her practice, your voice is priority and you are the expert of your life and experiences. Her role is to hold a non-judgmental space and encourage insight and self-awareness to promote optimal healing.

Message to clients

Therapy is not only for crisis management but for self-exploration, reflection, and intentions setting. I am active and collaborative during our work together so you do not feel as though you are doing the work alone. I recognize seeking therapy and professional support can be intimidating. I invite you to bring all of your identities and parts to our meetings where we can honor and explore them at your pace. In this collaborative partnership, we will find the appropriate strategies that works for you to optimize your well-being, mental health, and resiliency.
