Professional statement

Mark Reid is a Marriage & Family Therapist in private practice in Pasadena,
CA. He became a therapist later in life, having spent over 30 years
producing TV fundraising programs for national and international
non-profit organizations, like World Vision, St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital Operation Smile, Food for the Poor and Mercy Ships. He
has had many therapy clients in the TV and film production business.

Mark works with all adults, and has extensive training in working with
couples, especially recovering from sexual betrayal, including sex
addiction. Mark is trained by Stan Tatkin in the Psychobiological
Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT). The goal is to help a couple create a
secure functioning relationship based on principles of true mutuality,
collaboration, justice, fairness, and sensitivity. Anything less than
secure functioning, is not sustainable because of its lack of mutuality.

Mark is also trained in three forms of trauma therapy – EMDR,
Brainspotting and Internal Family Systems. Traditional talk therapy
primarily focuses on changing limiting beliefs leading to insight and
strategies to help manage the symptoms.  But the emotional wound keeps
reoccurring and can cause intense suffering and reactivity. Trauma
therapy enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress
of disturbing life experiences and helps activate the natural healing
processes and calm the system.

Mark's office is located next to the historic Pasadena City Hall, and he
also offers teletherapy sessions to clients throughout California.
