Professional statement

Oriana Murphy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Marina Del Rey who works with her clients from a directive and relational approach as an effort to navigate the challenges they are facing.  Oriana’s clients come to her for a variety of reasons including anxiety/depression, trauma, substance use, life transitions, and maternal mental health.

Oriana has been working in the area of mental health for over 17 years in both the private and public sectors, and has gained incredible experience that has allowed her to provide support to a variety of individuals.  She uses a combined style of attachment focused, CBT, depth psychology, EMDR, and overall trauma-informed care to provide each of her clients the care they need throughout their therapeutic journey.  Oriana does not believe in a “one size fits all” model and collaborates with each client to determine the appropriate course of action for therapy.

Along with her private practice, Oriana has specialized in working in addiction treatment programs in Los Angeles and is passionate about the world of recovery.

Message to clients

Life can be incredibly complicated and seeking help is a courageous feat, so, welcome to my practice! I believe that therapy should be a safe landing pad where unresolved and "stuck" patterns can be discovered and untangled, and new skills can be developed. Nowhere else than the therapy room can we just "be," without having to perform or worry about being judged.

When clients come to my practice for trauma or substance use work, I aim to create a safe space where my clients feel comfortable to enough to walk thru their suffering in order to get to the other side.

Alternatively, often people simply need an objective voice to listen or provide feedback as they navigate life transitions. Through my collaborative and relational style, I seek to empower while guiding clients through to their next chapter of their life. I hope to help clients examine how they have been marginalized by power dynamics where applicable.

Whatever the reason is that you are seeking support, I am honored at the possibility of an opportunity to be that person!
