Professional statement

Praysha Spearman loves helping professionals who long to show up authentically at work and home, while struggling with feelings of inadequacy. For some clients, this happens after sexual trauma. Praysha is a Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in the treatment of complex trauma. She is the kind of therapist who is motivated by helping you overcome your greatest difficulties.

Since 2015, Praysha has been honored to help clients resolve issues such as sexual trauma, anger, suicide, grief, loss, crisis, criminal history, co-parenting issues, physical illness, workplace injuries, old age/end of life transitions, premarital relationships, divorce, depression, anxiety and more. After years of experience helping clients through therapy, Praysha’s passion only continues to increase with time.

Praysha received her Master's of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2015 from Valdosta State University. She utilizes evidence-based interventions, such as Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to help clients discover long-awaited healing. Praysha offers individual therapy, couples counseling, and family therapy to address the various needs that impact a client’s overall wellbeing. Praysha’s clinical experiences include inpatient, outpatient and non-profit settings such as community service boards, an adolescent crisis center, Emory’s Farmworker Project, and a domestic violence shelter.

Message to clients

As a mid-career professional, sexual trauma is the last thing you want to talk about.

You wake up and take care of yourself. You go to work, clean your home, take care of your family, go to the gym. You’re doing more than surviving-by many definitions, you are thriving!

However, most people don’t know your story.

Although the trauma occurred many years ago, you still have moments of heightened stress and anxiety. Triggers cause you to remember the manipulation and shame. Sometimes helplessness creeps in like an all-too-familiar, uninvited frien-emy.

You’ve worked hard to keep everything manageable. You’ve done everything in your power to forget the trauma, and move forward in life. At this point you’ve said, “I don’t want to have these same issues next year. Something’s gotta give.”

A part of you feels grateful for your life, but another part wonders, "How would life be different if (fill in the blank) never happened to me?" You’re ready to let go of the shame. You’re ready to transform your trauma into a tool for meaningful change. You’re ready to renew your life.

You need a therapist who will understand your unique innerworkings and provide a safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviors without shame or judgment. Together, we can bring healing to the most difficult situations you’ve faced.
