Professional statement

Renee works with clients to unpack the impacts of racism that hold them back from feeling comfortable in their own skin. As a social worker with over 10 years of experience, Renee empowers clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and low self esteem to uncover their inner strengths, tap into their power, and grow into the most authentic versions of themselves.

Renee reminds clients that peace is possible, despite life’s challenges. Her goal is to support clients through those challenges to find the contentment they've been yearning for.

Renee practices from a strengths-based perspective, identifying and building on clients’ strengths to empower them to take charge of their lives. To live, not simply exist. Renee also takes into account the client's overall situation, identifying life transactions and environmental pressures like work, family, and relationships. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize their unhelpful thoughts, patterns, and behaviors and change them to work towards their goals.

Renee empowers clients to become their most vibrant selves and enjoy the process of self liberation. This journey won’t happen overnight, but Renee is committed to working with each client to become who they were meant to be.

Message to clients

Many of my clients ask themselves these questions: How do I deal with discrimination? What do I do about racism at work, or feeling out of place as I move through the world? My clients might be isolated, numb, and just trying to get through the day. Whatever the issue is, they are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and low self esteem—which often manifest as an impact of racism and can affect your ability to stay positive.

When you're struggling, you can feel totally out of balance. But there's still hope. As a therapist, I practice from a strengths perspective, integrating social work's foundational systems theory into every interaction. What does that mean for you? My job is to identify your strengths, then build on them to empower you. I'll view you and your life with a wide lens, taking into consideration everything that could be impacting your mental health and overall well-being—including the impacts of racism and systems of oppression. And I'll work with you to figure out what approach will best help you to make positive changes that will last.
