Dr. Tatyana Mestechkina values creating a trusting environment for her clients and encourages open communication to build a strong therapeutic relationship. Dr. Mestechkina is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist located in the Flatiron area in Manhattan. She has extensive expertise in the evidence-based treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), including the purely obsessional type (pure-O), anxiety disorders (including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, phobias and panic), depressive disorders, as well as perfectionism and body image concerns. She also works with people navigating challenges related to relationships, career/school, the postpartum period and other life transitions.

Dr. Mestechkina is a cognitive behavioral therapist. She was trained by an internationally-recognized expert in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard of OCD treatment and related conditions. She also integrates approaches from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and skills from Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She works with clients to help them bring awareness to unhelpful thinking patterns, create more separation from them and make more choices in line with their goals and values. She often incorporates strategies such as mindfulness, acceptance, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, effective interpersonal communication and teaches techniques to better tolerate uncertainty.
