Professional statement

Todd B. Peyton, licensed professional counselor from Nashville TN, specializes in anxiety, trauma recovery, and relationship skills. He is trained in Jungian Dream Analysis and psychoanalytically based breathwork. He is currently in a practicum overseas in SE Asia but sees clients regularly via Telehealth.

Todd is able to develop a treatment program integrating psychoanalysis with breathing and meditation techniques. Psychoanalysis develops clarity and awareness of emotional and relationship patterns while body techniques regulate the physiological systems of emotions within the body. These two approaches combine for an effective, pragmatic, and holistic approach towards resolving psychological issues.

Todd has had a dual track training with one track comprised of professional counseling experience within school settings, drug and alcohol recovery centers, front-line crisis intervention, business based employee assistance programs, as a therapist for the US military overseas, and private practice. The other training includes Jungian dream analysis studying with the author Robert Johnson and Trappist monk, Zurich trained analyst, Father Gregory Santos, meditation at schools in Northern Thailand and Myanmar, Hatha Yoga, and Pranayama Breathwork.

Todd's clients range from all walks of life from students to successful businesspeople, artists and healers, males and females regardless of sexual orientation or cultural background. Although Todd is originally from Tennessee, he has spent most of his professional life overseas serving the International community and is well informed on inter-cultural relationships and major life adjustments.

Message to clients

Clients have described my style as effective towards getting to the core of emotional problems with depth, clarity, and humor. I recognize people are in different stages of their healing process, and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. It is important to who you are and where you are in your life to find the best path.

My core values as a therapist is to cultivate deeper levels of personal responsibility, emotional, spiritual, and physical awareness, and authentic connections with your self and with others. In the beginning it is very important to learn the art of self acceptance.

Although I do encourage the use of dreams, meditation, and breathwork, these are not requirements to work with me. Sometimes you just need to be heard and have a space to share your problems as a way towards finding solutions without going too far into depth. On the other hand, there are those who need depth work in both body and soul to enact fundamental transformations.
