Professional statement

Toresa Wilson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Maryland. Toresa is specialized in maternal mental health, aka Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders. Many of Toresa's clients come in during pregnancy and postpartum when adjusting to becoming a new parent, when facing fertility challenges or when stressors arise with raising children. Toresa is passionate about helping pregnant, new, hopeful and experienced moms as she has also faced similar challenges as a mother of IVF twins. Toresa has advanced training in maternal mental health.

Toresa is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which focuses on one's thoughts, feelings, reactions and behaviors; and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) which is based on how one interacts with others. In session, Toresa will help you discover easy ways to shift thoughts and behaviors that are no longer serving you so that you are more self-aware and confident in your ability to be the best mom/dad and person you want to be.

Toresa's style is client-centered and solution focused which will help you to not only be honest with yourself. Toresa will ask you the tough questions to help you challenge your thinking and thoughts that may be troubling you. When you have your first session with Toresa, you will notice each session is tailored to the goals you create together, or things you want to discuss and process during your time together. Toresa is dedicated to providing a relationship that is personable without judgement.

Outside of private practice, Toresa loves spending time with family and friends, reading, listening to music, singing and collecting healing crystals.

Message to clients

It takes an immense amount of courage to seek help and I am so happy you are here ready to start your journey of self-care as a parent. It can be extremely helpful to find someone who you can be yourself without judgement for just an hour every week to discuss the things that matter most to you. I am here to help you every step of the way; you do not have to go through your life journey alone.

You may be at a point where you want to have a better routine/schedule for your family, you may want to rediscover yourself since having children or you may want to feel more peace + joy in life so you can be more present and active with your family. You have tried on your own and now you're ready to conquer your mental health.

Imagine what it would be like to wake up each day with peace and calm... without feeling overwhelmed, depressed or unhappy. Your life is your story and I want to give you permission to re-write it. You will leave every session with clarity and accountability. Although we meet via video sessions, I will give you a safe space to express yourself without judgment where you are able to achieve the goals you have set for each session. We will work through the uncomfortable feelings and celebrate all the wins you have in life as well.
