Dr. Wes Myers is a psychotherapist in private practice in Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania. Dr. Myers has worked in the field of psychotherapy for over 30 years. During that time he has provided therapy to clients with a broad range of emotional health issues. These include anxiety ,depression and bipolar disorder. Dr. Myers specializes in providing treatment to persons with eating disorders. As such he has helped persons who have been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. Dr. Myers has provided mental health services in inpatient, partial hospital and outpatient settings.
Dr. Myers takes an eclectic approach to treatment. He uses techniques that have been shown through research to be the most effective in treating various psychological disorders. Dr. Myers believes in helping clients learn effective coping strategies to deal with the stress they are presently experiencing. He also utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy to assist clients in challenging and changing the negative irrational thoughts contributing to their current distress. Dr. Myers then helps clients explore the issues underlying their present problem behaviors. Persons often grow up in environments where they feel emotionally unsafe. In these environments individuals learn not to trust and that their needs don't matter. Often times unresolved issues from the past contribute to difficulties in current relationships and to the development of unhealthy coping strategies. Through the therapy process Dr. Myers offers clients a space where they can finally feel heard and validated. The hope is that this experience enables them to feel a greater sense of self worth and entitlement.
At the present time Dr. Myers is providing therapy through telehealth sessions at this time.
