You may feel disconnected from your feelings, or you may feel overwhelmed by intense emotions. In our DBT group, you will learn many skills in the four categories of mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. These skills help you to identify and manage your emotions, participate fully in the present moment, tolerate difficult situations, and improve interactions with your friends, family, and colleagues.

$60/week. Insurance may reduce this amount.
Heather Schatten, Ph.D. is a psychologist at the group practice RICBT in East Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Schatten leads a DBT group therapy program at RICBT. Her groups serve as a supplement to individual therapy, and she happily refers her clients to individual therapists if needed. Dr. Schatten specializes in treating the emotion dysregulation underlying personality disorders (especially borderline personality disorder), depression, anxiety, and self-harm. Her DBT group focuses on skills acquisition, and she teaches mindfulness practices, emotion regulation tools, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. Her groups include practical skills-based exercises, and participants are given homework in order to maximize time outside of session. In her groups, Dr. Schatten works with young adults, college students, and adults.
