Clients have described me as a warm, all-embracing straight-shooter with a healthy sense of humor who is genuinely invested in my clients' journeys. I keep it real, so if you're tired of - or just not into - flowery, woo-woo therapy I'm your person. Nothing I've ever heard has shocked me...we've all got "stuff" and that's what makes us unique.

I practice from a person-centered perspective and I incorporate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic Theory, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR with my clients (not all at once and rarely all with each, of course!). My training and background ensures that you get what you need. Whether you're struggling with sadness, nervousness, stress, or would like to process a trauma, I'm here for you every step of the way. When you're with me, your thoughts, feelings and perceptions are center stage, validated, and nurtured.

We all need to be seen, and heard, at any age. Being scared, anxious, or even depressed are sometimes part of being a person. Our fast-paced digital world can present unique challenges for our bodies and minds. I am happy to meet you wherever you are, and will approach each visit with a sense of compassionate curiosity. I work with adolescents (12+) through older, retired adults and specialize in issues of transition, anxiety, adjustment, depression, and vocation. I am not the expert in your life; you are. But sometimes we need help with perspective. Together, we will create a plan that will help you reduce the most difficult aspects of your life and help you determine how to move through them. What cannot be changed can be reviewed, understood, and ultimately, accepted.

All you need to bring to therapy is an open mind and a willingness to explore. I am a very interactive therapist; I give a lot of feedback and guidance. In my work with individuals, I help people see how they developed the coping skills and defense mechanisms they did, and how to begin recognizing them in a less judgmental way. I also teach couples new communication skills: how to rebuild trust and safety after a breach, how to mirror one another, ways to validate and empathize. We work on breaking bad patterns and create healthier ones using positivity and appreciations.

As a clinician, I collaboratively identify a person’s inherent strengths, empowering them to enact positive changes within themselves and their relationships. My approach is person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. Curiosity, compassion, and humor enable a safe and engaging atmosphere in which to do individualized work.

Integrating various therapeutic modalities will allow our sessions to best suit you and your needs. I have worked in the U.S. and abroad with people of all ages and experiences including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, substance use, and personal and inherited trauma. My worldview has been further shaped by my time as a Peace Corps Volunteer and member of the Match-e-be-nash-she-wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians. My lens is ever-growing and nonjudgmental, allowing me to bring nuance and understanding to my practice.
