Dr. Celia Zanayed is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Illinois that specializes in working with individuals who have experienced trauma. Many of Dr. Celia's patients struggle with understanding why they feel the way they do after going through one or a series of difficult life experiences. Dr. Celia is passionate about working with individuals who are ready to take back control of how they feel, build healthy relationships, and build the life they want. They have specialized training in working with interpersonal, intergenerational, and historical trauma.

Dr. Celia is trained in prolonged exposure (PE) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). These are approaches that specifically address symptoms of trauma including intrusive symptoms (like flashbacks), hypervigilance, hyperarousal, avoidance, and low mood. With time, these treatments allow individuals to build trust in themselves in order to build resilience and mental wellness.

Dr. Celia has a relational and attachment-based style. When patients first meet for an intake session, Dr. Celia fosters an empathic and authentic experience to better understand each person's identity, context, and experiences. The process is collaborative to empower patients to dictate their goals and take actionable steps to improve their lives.

Dr. Celia received her Doctoral of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) from Adler University with an Emphasis in Children and Adolescents. They gained experience working with a diverse group of individuals across the lifespan in community mental health, residential treatment, and hospital settings prior to opening their private practice. Outside of work, Dr. Celia enjoys painting and gardening.
