Practice Information

Resolve Psychological Services is a full-service therapy practice offering in-person care to residents of Washington DC, Maryland, & Virginia, and virtual care to people in most states. We offer individual and couples therapy, and we treat adults, children, and adolescents. We specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, loneliness, relationship issues, couples care, as well as eating disorder treatment. We love what we do, and we would love to have you join us and feel the Resolve difference.

Resolve is committed to excellence. We make it our business to know what the first-line, most evidenced based treatments are for every issue that might come through our doors. We are highly-trained but we also collaborate and consult frequently to make sure that we are approaching your treatment in the most effective manner possible. We care about your result, and we care about you! This is our commitment to quality, and our clients feel the difference. Our clients frequently tell us how grateful they are to actually have skills to apply, how relieved they are that our clinicians actually talk in the session, and how satisfied they are with the emotional shift they are experiencing. We cannot wait to offer you the same relief.

Our clients invest a lot in therapy and tend to stay with us for many years, well after the acute phase of their concern has passed, just because they are experiencing such a quality of life enhancement. We take that as such a compliment, and we feel the connection ourselves. If you are done stagnating in your emotional life, attempting to feel better and failing, come and see us. We would love to have you.

FAQS

What services does your practice offer?

Resolve Psychological Services offers individual and couples therapy for adults, as well as individual and family therapy for children and adolescents. Our team always includes parents in the care of minors. The clinicians at Resolve limit the number of clients we see so that we can be available and accessible to the clients we do have, so you can rely on your Resolve therapist.

What are your practice's specialties?

We are true generalists, but that does not mean that we aren't highly specialized as well. For anxiety, depression, panic, OCD, & social anxiety, we apply traditional CBT. For trauma and PTSD, we use a hybrid of CBT and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). For couples therapy, we use Gottman Method as well as Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). Our approach for Eating Disorder Care is centered in CBT-Enhanced for Eating Disorders as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and we operate from a Health at Every Size (HAES), All Foods Fit, Intuitive Eating Framework. For oppositional children, we apply a modified Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). We use Trauma-Focused CBT for traumatized children, and we always incorporate play therapy and art therapy for kids, because play is the language of children. You are at the center of your care, & we bring the treatments you need directly to you.

Why should I choose your practice?

You should choose Resolve because we offer mental health treatment that works. Part of the reason it works is that Resolve therapists are real. They have a voice in the session. Our clients tell us that many of their past therapists were quite silent. Our belief is that a silent therapist is witholding affection and affirmation, which is not therapeutic at all! Dr. Hecht carefully selects clinicians who not only have the training needed to be excellent, but who are also personable, warm, accessible, relatable, and natural in disposition, so that you can feel at ease, knowing that you are talking to a real person, and a great person at that. Our therapists feel affection for our clients and we let it show through feedback, validation, active listening, and affirmation of your experience. Feel the Resolve difference, and resolve your pain with the right therapist for you.

How does payment work at your practice?

Resolve is classified as an out of network provider, as are the majority of therapists in DC and Northern Virginia suburbs. This means that the payment is due each session, but we provide you with an insurance-friendly receipt, called a Superbill, that you can submit to your insurance company to activate “out of network benefits." The Superbill will have all the necessary codes the insurance company needs to get you reimbursed for some portion of what you've paid Resolve. Many insurance companies send you a check for 60-80% reimbursement for what you've paid, once your deductible is met, but you will want to check with your insurance company for your specific benefit, and to ensure that you have out of network benefits for “behavioral health." The typical procedure code is 90834-95, in case they ask!
