I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Connecticut, with my group private practice located in downtown Fairfield. My practice works with clients of all ages, but especially with children, teenagers, young adults, and families. Our approach to treatment involves a holistic, collaborative, strengths-based modality, utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy and family systems techniques. This also includes parent skills training.
We want to help individuals become more aware of their strengths and their difficulties; this would include obstacles that are keeping them from reaching their full potential, goals, and happiness. We teach new techniques to incorporate into one's daily life, to help manage these inevitable obstacles. Growth and healing aren't linear, though it would be nice if they were! With a teamwork approach, one is able to start this process. We all have strengths within us that we may or may not be aware of. Our goal is to help clients learn effective tools that can be used long-term, to reach realistic, positive change.
Challenging a client, but from an empathetic and understanding place, is key; we will not push or force anyone to do something that they are not comfortable with. Once they have the confidence in themselves, seeing that they have learned the skills and that these skills actually work, then they will be able to push their prior boundaries with support and guidance. Myself, Meg, Katie, Jeff, and Amber have different experiences and passions, with Meg working with individuals on the spectrum/with autism, Katie working so well with teenage girls, Jeff having experience with executive functioning skills, and Amber having a passion for the LGBTQ+ population. We also come together as a team to make sure that you and your loved one are well supported.
