Aika Marchant M.S., LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and Texas. She is half Japanese and half white. She grew up in Japan until she was nine years old. She initially started her career working with children and parents in several non-profit mental health agency. When she started to work in a private practices setting, she realized that she loved working with relationships of all types! As she started to uncover the connections between adult relationship patters with childhood attachment trauma, she became inspired to support clients process their past experiences that is preventing them from building relationships in preferred, mindful ways.
Being a daughter of an immigrant and growing up in Asia during her childhood has inspired Aika to provide a safe place for individuals and couples belonging to a minority group in America. She specializes in working with clients to work through childhood trauma, and improve current relationships with themselves and/or partners. She also certified Premarital Counselor, and supports clients prepare for successful long-term commitment through the PREPARE/enrich model.
With clients who have experienced trauma, Aika utilizes mindfulness and trauma-informed approaches, such as EMDR and somatic interventions to support the body get "unstuck" from the negative, unhelpful patterns. Aika also utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with individuals and couples experiencing problems in relationships. EFT is an evidence-based therapy treatment based on attachment theory. She often utilizes mindfulness in every session to stay curious to the experience of the present moment with clients. Aika firmly believes that EFT and mindfulness has allowed her clients to pause and have deeper understanding and compassion for themselves and others.
Aika Marchant offers the flexibility of remote therapy sessions, and is inspired to provide clients access to therapy throughout the states of Texas and California.
