Professional statement

Alexandra Pappas is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Soquel, CA. Alexandra works with children, teenagers, young adults, and adults. She provides individual, couples, and family sessions, supporting clients to overcome past traumas and adverse experiences. Many of Alexandra’s clients find that their attachment styles interrupt their ability to start and maintain healthy relationships. They feel anxious and dissatisfied with their relationships, whether it’s their relationship with a partner, parent, child, or another loved one.

Alexandra’s approach to therapy is holistic, which means that she emphasizes the mind-body connection. Her sessions focus on healing on both an emotional and a physical level, which is a sum greater than its parts. She believes that human connection is one of the most important aspects of life, and teaches clients how to further their relationships through authenticity. One of the core tenants of her work with clients is her belief that all people are good and have good intentions. Her unconditional positive regard is an affirming source of compassion and empathy, and she helps clients develop their sense of hope and trust in others.

Alexandra earned a Master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Western Seminary. She previously worked in the foster care and adoption systems, where she supported families as they worked towards healing, loving connection, and healthy relationship patterns.

Message to clients

I believe that pursuing a path of healing through therapy takes courage and bravery. My journey to this helping profession began from a passion for people, a belief in hope, and faith in the power of human connection. I help my clients discover authenticity and belonging through unconditional positive regard and connection.

My professional experiences have been with children, teens, adults, couples, and families seeking to overcome trauma, attachment disruptions, relational dissatisfaction, and other mental health concerns impacting their functioning. I have worked for various non-profits and community agencies relating to the foster care system and adoption. I am consistently honored by the privilege to witness vulnerability in the lives of my clients as they pursue healing and wholeness. I am a firm believer that healing happens in relationships, and that wholeness is the best way to embrace life!

I take a client-centered approach to all my work and believe in holistic healing, integrating mind and body in order to achieve greater wellness. The majority of my experience has been with trauma and coping with the secondary effects of depression, anxiety, and relational difficulties. No matter what the concern, I use compassion and openness as I journey with my clients to uncover a better quality of life, big or small!
