Professional statement

Amita Khare is a marriage and family therapist based in Sacramento. Amita offers both in-person and telehealth sessions for people living in California. Amita is particularly passionate about serving women, young adults, children, and families. Many of Amita’s clients come in to resolve trauma, reduce anxiety and depression, get unstuck and move forward with confidence. Amita has helped children and families who are battling increased anxiety, depression, and behavior issues due to the pandemic.

Amita is trained in Cognitive behavioral therapy, Dialectical behavioral therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Amita draws from mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, and art therapy to cater to her client’s needs. These approaches work on identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and reframing them to help clients achieve their goals. By learning mindfulness techniques clients find peace and balance in their life. Clients are able to leave their past behind and focus on creating the life they love. Amita provides practical tools that clients can use every day to help them change their behavior.

Amita's style is trauma-informed, non-judgmental, and strength-based. Amita believes in developing a strong therapeutic relationship and providing a safe, healing environment for growth and success.

Amita received her MS from California State University, Sacramento. She has extensive experience in the mental health field; working with local community clinics, serving individuals and families from diverse socio-economical and cultural backgrounds. Outside of private practice, she is an active board member of the local chapter for marriage and family therapists. Amita has received the 'Outstanding Leader' award from the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists in 2020. Amita is passionate about women's empowerment and has hosted multiple events and groups for women. Amita also enjoys gardening, hiking, and reading in her spare time.

You would like to wake up in the morning without the feeling of dread, hopelessness, and despair. You would like to break free from the clutches of past trauma and live.

I believe in my client’s strengths and abilities to take steps towards their goals, with a little help. I believe that all of us are able to achieve our dreams and live the life we want to live. I am your coach or a guide in your journey towards happiness. I will provide you with practical tools that you can use every day to feel confident and happier. I believe in a collaborative approach.
