Professional statement

Annie Bingaman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in northern Westchester County, NY. She works with individuals and couples both virtually and in person at her office in Peekskill, NY. As a client centered and feminist relational therapist, Annie’s therapeutic style has been described as compassionate yet direct. She takes an eclectic and holistic approach in working with clients and uses a non-judgmental and inclusive framework.

Annie aims to help clients develop the skills necessary for living their best life, often incorporating deep breathing exercises and journal prompts into her work with clients. She integrates traditional forms of treatment, such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Pulling from her training in Trauma-Informed Yoga and Accelerated Resolution Therapy®, Annie also utilizes more body-centered modalities designed to help clients move through the long lasting effects of trauma.

Annie supports clients navigating current psychosocial stressors as well as the impact of their past experiences. Many of her clients struggle to manage things like stress, anxiety and depression. Annie helps her clients to better understand the root causes of such issues as well as how they effect overall well being. Through working with Annie, clients will gain a deeper understanding of themselves and how they relate to the world.

Annie especially enjoys working with young adults and college students (ages 18-30) as they navigate the challenges that come along with this transitional time. She incorporates career coaching in working with this age group. Many of her clients identify women and/or belong to the LGBTQ+ community. Annie’s first priority in working with a new client is ensuring that they feel safe, heard, and understood. Annie maintains that each client is the expert on their own life and believes that the therapeutic process can be a vehicle for finding healing, freedom and fulfillment.

Message to clients

Coping with life's challenges and transitions is not always easy. Whether you're feeling weighed down by anxiety, depression or past trauma, you do not have to go about it alone. I take a very collaborative approach in working with clients, helping you move toward positive change. Perhaps there are patterns of behavior or patterns of thinking that are holding you back in some way. If this sounds true for you, I can help you develop the skills necessary for moving through this. Through the therapeutic process we will dig into your story, focusing on the experiences that have shaped you. I take an interactive and compassionate approach in working with clients. I enjoy asking insightful questions that can help guide us toward new perspectives. Throughout your time in therapy, you will gain valuable skills and insight that you can integrate in your day to day life.
