Professional statement

Ashley Benakis is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor based in the Charlotte, North Carolina Area. Ashley is also a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Colorado. Ashley works with individuals across the lifespan, with a focus on childhood trauma and the recognition that early childhood experiences do shape our brains. However, we are not a victim to those experiences due to our brain's incredible neuroplasticity. Ashley's clients have found great success in their growth and healing through working with her. Ashley is particularly sensitive to clients experiencing life transitions and grief as well as depression and anxiety.

Ashley's approach is rooted in Humanistic and Person Centered theories, meaning Ashley meets her clients where they are on their healing and life journey. Ashley helps clients understand the power of and importance of emotions, while learning to play a more active role in responding to a dysregulated nervous system. Ashley integrates neuroscience and psychoeducation, CBT, ACT, DBT existential and spiritual approaches to help her clients become the most self-actualized version of themselves.

Ashley is focused on ensuring her clients see real progress: her style is integrative, humorous, non-judgmental, and empowers her clients to view themselves as the greatest experts in their lives and their own journey. Ashley is a trauma-informed therapist, and has actively engages in continuing education to ensure clinical competency.

Ashley works with clients both in person in her Mooresville, NC office as well as virtually.
