Professional statement

Carissa Sietsema is a licensed clinical social worker that focuses on working with adults struggling with anxiety, ocd, depression, and trauma. As a therapist, she believes that everyone is capable of blooming even in the roughest of circumstances, which inspired her to name her private practice Ever Blooming Therapy Services. Some of the struggles that client’s brings into therapy include feelings of worry, intrusive thoughts, guilt, shame, and past pain. These intense emotions often feel like they’re in the driver’s seat controlling life, making if feel exhausting and lacking in meaning.

In sessions, Carissa aims to assist you with regaining control of your life. This can include understanding what your emotions are telling you and unmet needs they signal. Learning new skills to respond to these intense emotions, thus kicking them out of the driver’s seat. Practicing skills and engaging in self-discovery allows one to build meaningful relationships with themselves and others. Ultimately the goal is to help you live a life you value and no longer be held back by this pain and struggle.

Carissa’s robust experience in a variety of settings, which range from working with clients in in-patient treatment to doing in home therapy, has allowed her to understand the importance of a holistic approach. This means looking at how our body, environment, behaviors, and relationships all work together to impact our mental health.

Carissa’s is dedicated to providing a welcoming practice, where individuals feel both safe and validated. Everyone’s experiences are unique and meaningful, therefore no person deserves to have their experiences be dismissed or told they are not severe enough to matter. Online therapy allows therapy to be done in the comfort of one’s home and with more flexibility in scheduling. Evening and weekend sessions are offered to better accommodate busy life.

Message to clients

Therapy is a partnership, as the client, you dictate what you want to work on and what you feel comfortable with trying. As a therapist I lend my expertise to guide the process. Your emotions and your experiences are yours alone and something that should never be discredited. In session, we will get to better understand what your emotions are telling you, how they affect your thoughts, actions, and the pain you feel. Thinking of emotions as a signal is a beneficial way to understand what may be working well in our lives and what may be missing. After we have this understanding, we will work on learning skills to take control over these thoughts and feelings. This can include engaging in things such as mindfulness techniques which help bring you back to the moment, writing out your story to see if from a different perspective, learning new ways to communicate, or even exposure techniques where we face things that are uncomfortable together. All of these are done at a pace you feel comfortable at and with your feedback.
