Professional statement

Dr. Chet Lesniak is a Psychologist who practices online in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York, as well as in Florida. Dr. Lesniak has over 30 years of experience as a psychologist. He has worked across many different mental health conditions, life situations, and barriers to happiness. Many of Dr. Lesniak’s clients struggle with overwhelming amounts of stress. They face anxiety, sadness, and fear as they go through their daily lives, which leads to the feeling of never being able to relax and enjoy life. They may be going through grief after a loss, conflict in their relationships, or major changes in their lives.

Dr. Lesniak tailors therapy sessions to the individualized needs of the client. He understands that therapy — and healing — does not look the same for everyone, which is why he draws from many different therapy approaches with his clients. Clients set goals for their mental health, working towards those goals with Dr. Lesniak’s support. He practices contemplative psychotherapy, along with psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and more for an integrated approach to well-being.

Dr. Lesniak earned a PhD in Psychology from New York University. He previously worked at New York Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital, and Cape Cod Psych Center. He has practiced in clinics, schools, and hospitals. His style is down-to-earth and practical. His encouragement has helped numerous individuals reach their mental health goals and find happiness.

Message to clients

I practice contemplative psychotherapy, a blend of Buddhist practice with Western psychotherapy. I work with people with many kinds of problems such as stress, anxiety, sadness, grief, or conflicts. I help people with life transitions such as changes in health, work, career, or relationships. I will be your guide and your advocate as you explore yourself.

I start with the assumption that we are all basically good, wise, and compassionate beings regardless of our history, experiences, or problems. We all just want to be happy. We can find and maintain our happiness, as well as our capacity for love and compassion. My goal is to work with you so that you can live a fulfilled life with happiness and love. Our work toward that goal is grounded in contemplative psychotherapy practices such as mindfulness and meditation, as well as therapeutic interventions that are cognitive, behavioral, and supportive.

I can help you deal with your problems or help you make the change you seek. My approach to therapy is focused on what works for you. I offer a range of interventions from supportive psychotherapy to solution focused therapy. My style is practical and down to earth. I work with you so that you can achieve your goals and be happy.
