Professional statement

Dr. Chiaki Sasaki is a Psychologist located in San Francisco, CA. She has over 15 years of experience helping individuals to improve their mental health. Many of her clients face struggles with anxiety, depression, or burnout. The origins of these mental health conditions may be work stress, challenging relationships, or in reaction to major life changes. Many of Dr. Sasaki’s clients seek ways to improve their overall well-being and to find a greater sense of meaning in their lives.

Dr. Sasaki’s therapy style is warm and collaborative, as she invites clients to engage in vulnerable conversations while providing them a safe, compassionate space. She practices a therapy approach called psychodynamic depth psychology, which encourages reflections on past experiences and relationships to develop an understanding of a client’s internal world. She also offers Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and mindfulness-based therapy to clients to help them address unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors.

Dr. Sasaki earned a PsyD from the California Institute of Integral Studies. She has previous work experience in a wide range of settings, including working with children and clients with diverse backgrounds. She is a strengths-based therapist who believes strongly that all individuals have the resilience they need to overcome mental health challenges, they just need the tools to access that resilience.

Message to clients

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience. I use a warm collaborative approach to offer a safe space of reflection and work with adults to facilitate healing, clarity and making necessary changes in their lives.

My approach is supportive, collaborative, and strength-based. Since no one model fits all, I draw from psychodynamic depth psychology, CBT, mindfulness and integrative mental health based practices to address your unique emotional and self-growth needs. I'm additionally trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) as well as life coaching.

My previous experience includes working in group practice and community mental health as a psychotherapist, consultant and supervising psychologist. I have a personal interest in yoga, holistic/integrative health, peak performance, and offer therapy and consultation in Japanese.
