Cindy Smith is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Boulder, CO. Cindy works with teens and adults with a focus on anxiety, depression, relational issues, performance anxiety, sports performance and the LGBTIA+ community. She also helps those who have suffered a mild traumatic brain injury.
Many of her clients are dealing with life transitions such as a move or ending a relationship, work and school stress, or symptoms related to past trauma. She helps them to understand their underlying beliefs systems and mental habits and how they developed, as well as how the physical responses we have to events can impact our thinking and emotional wellbeing and gives strategies to learn to find calm and ease.
Cindy’s therapeutic approach incorporates mindfulness, somatic understanding and social justice. She uses Cognitive Behavioral and Brainspotting therapies with her clients. Additionally, Cindy has a background in Executive Coaching, and can assist her clients that are small business owners, entrepreneurs and leaders looking to up their game.
Cindy’s approach is client centered and her priority is helping clients get clear on what they would like to see change and to develop strategies and new skills to address these. Her office is a safe place for those in the LGBTQIA+ community and others who may be dealing with minority stress. If clients want homework, she will teach them home exercises to support their growth. Cindy believes there are many solutions to issues and will bring in different approaches as needed until we find what works for that person.
As both a singer song writer and athlete herself, Cindy enjoys helping others to over come performance anxiety, sports injury and in finding joy in their sport or creative endeavor. She enjoys music, skiing, hiking and mountain biking outside of her practice.
