Professional statement

Daniel Craig Powell is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in San Diego, CA. He specializes in working with those who have depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and those who experience substance abuse or psychosis. He also works with people whose compulsions may negatively impact their lives, including clients with OCD.

Daniel’s approach to therapy centers around the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), clients learn how certain thought patterns might result in negative emotional outcomes, such as low self-esteem or feelings of disconnections from others. He teaches clients how to avoid the cognitive distortions that lead to assumptions, checking thoughts against reality. Daniel also utilizes mindfulness exercises in his work so clients increase their self-awareness and develop emotional regulation strategies.

Clients benefit from Daniel’s empathy and experience as a therapist. He enjoys engaging in conversations about existence and meaning, exploring how a person’s background led them to their current state and offering grounding perspective.
