Professional statement

Dr. Douglas Sadownick is a Licensed Psychologist in Los Angeles, CA. He also serves as a professor of clinical psychology at Antioch University, where he has spent the past 20 years training therapists to open their hearts and to engage with vitality and courage. Dr. Sadownick founded and directed the Antioch University LGBT Specialization and Colors LGBTQ Youth Counseling Center, and a result, has access to a host of different methods and approaches, including psychodynamic, existential, feminist, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and somatic.

In sessions, Dr. Sadownick works collaboratively to engage clients in a conversational and respectful way. He strives to consistently check-in during each session to see how the overall treatment is going, and what can be improved. Together, he works with clients to come up with collaborative goals that are designed to help individuals feel safer emotionally and to meet their needs.

Dr. Sadownick is also offering a discount to people working in the medical fields, and remains open to to talking about fees, given the difficulty of the current climate. He encourages you to reach out to schedule a free introductory call or connect via email, and looks forward to hearing from you.

Message to clients

During the current public health crisis, I can offer you all my emotional resources to help you feel safe and grounded. I am currently working via phone and video sessions (FaceTime or Zoom) to address people’s need for contact, support and direction. I specialize in working with diverse populations—also the Hollywood industry--to help address loneliness, concerns about finances, relationship distress and worries about survival. I feel it is important to use this challenging time to make meaning out of this societal change, to find out what’s being asked from each of us to grow. I am open to your call and to see how I might help.

My way of working is to help you feel safe and cared for. We can address your fears, worried and anxieties. Solutions can be discovered through dialogue. As we work to solve some pressing concerns, we can also address the search for greater meaning and deeper purpose that comes from facing a crisis. I will talk with you as a companion in your journey. I work with all people and specialize in working with LGBTQ clients, women and people of color and men struggling with today's health crisis and other pressures.
