Professional statement

Emily Belcher is a licensed professional counselor and EMDR Certified Therapist in Cedar Park, Texas or the Greater Austin area. Emily has extensive experience and a special passion for working with clients dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and all types of eating disorders (EDs). She offers individual therapy to individuals ages 13 and up, and she often provides family counseling to supplement individual therapy to support clients in their recovery. Mrs. Belcher often provides care in coordination with other healthcare professionals to best support each client. She offers both in person and remote therapy to meet the needs of each client.

Emily has 9 years' experience working in a variety of settings including psychiatric inpatient hospitals, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment facility for eating disorders, and in private practice.

Emily strongly believes that her role as a therapist is to create a safe and nonjudgmental setting for each client. She ensures that therapy is a space where people can explore their inner selves, life experiences and values to actualize their goals and hopes for their lives. Mrs. Belcher works in a collaborative way to help clients more comfortably examine and process difficult thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. Her process is specifically tailored to the unique needs of each individual and how they wish to show up in their lives.

Emily's approach to treatment is founded on providing empathy and unconditional positive regard to her clients and understanding each client’s personal goals. She strives to create a setting where people of all cultures and backgrounds are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. Her primary therapy modality is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and she also draws on skills and concepts from ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) as helpful in the process.
