Professional statement

Ericka Echavarria is a licensed psychotherapist in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts who works with adults and couples navigating relationship issues, career or life transitions, caregiving stress, anxiety, and burnout.

Ericka's clinical work is informed and enriched by her clinical, legal, and systems training and education. She recognizes the tension of working within complex systems which often perpetuate harm, including the impact that can have on individual well-being, quality of relationships, and professional sustainability. Ericka often supports clients who are seeking support in managing stress, burnout, presence in relationships, and their own self-care.

Sessions are virtual and Ericka has immediate availability as of June 2026.

Message to clients

My lived experiences as a social worker, mother, law school graduate, and university professor and administrator inform my worldview and clinical approach. My therapeutic approach is person-centered, and incorporates a social justice and trauma informed lens to meet client’s unique needs, identities, and roles.

As an Afro-Dominicana, I bring a relational and culturally humble perspective into cultivating an engaged and collaborative approach with my clients. If clients are open, I also integrate contemplative practices such as: 1) mindfulness to explore and reflect around individual, intergenerational, and collective conditioned responses; 2) somatic exercises to interrupt habitual responses and support regulation, and 3) ancestral and acquired lineages to support inner wisdom, belonging, and resilience.

I welcome feedback, joy, and celebrations of accomplishments as part of the therapeutic process. I work with all levels of Spanish fluency and capacity, including non-Spanish speakers. Reach out to schedule a Free 15-minute Video Consultation to see if we might be the right fit!
