Professional statement

Fabian Escobedo is a Bilingual (English and Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of California. Fabian specializes in working with teenagers and adults who have experienced trauma, whether it was a single event, multiple events, or years of traumatic events, whether if it just happened yesterday or 30 years ago. Fabian has experience in helping individuals heal from adverse events for the past 6 years. Currently, he works as a Faculty therapist at San Diego State University providing individual and group therapy to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as formerly foster youth or youth who have been ward of the court, and/or experiencing homelessness. In addition, Fabian has worked with survivors of sex trafficking, commercially sexually exploited children, and labor tracking, through a humanistic, holistic, trauma-informed care approach. He also served as a Bilingual clinician during San Diego's humanitarian crisis in 2021 of an unprecedented unaccompanied minors that were arriving at the San Diego-Tijuana border, where he provided trauma-informed therapy to help young girls process their complex and prolonged trauma that they experienced in their home country as well as in their travel journey to the U.S.

Fabian is well versed and experienced in multiple therapy techniques and interventions that have significant evidence in the healing of trauma. For example, he's fully trained in the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Fabian offers warmth and focuses on building trust using a culturally-informed lens and takes a "no taboo" approach, offering clients the opportunity to be their true, unfiltered, authentic versions of themselves to fully heal in therapy.

Fabian offers therapy virtually across California. If you want to know more about Fabian's approach and style, message him to schedule a free phone consultation.

Message to clients

I've been fortunate to be trusted with people's life stories. Many clients grow comfortable and trust me to show me parts of their life story that perhaps they haven't shared with anyone else, not even their parents, family members, or spouse. I believe my trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, humanistic approach facilitates this trusting, therapeutic relationship.

The feedback I often hear from clients is that they leave sessions with new insight and reflecting about their life, feeling motivated to make the changes they need. If you're a person that thinks deeply about life and would like to explore the depths of mental health and your meaning of life, I may be the right therapist. I don't have superficial approaches or fixes in therapy. I believe that if we want to see long-lasting changes so that you don't need therapy forever, we need to explore what's getting in the way to reach your full potential and a freed mind from past traumas. Therapy can be an instrument in achieving that and I would be delighted to be part of your healing journey.

Even though no therapist should ever make promises, I've seen success in some of the most adverse and challenging trauma experiences and I am a strong believer that people have the power to heal and jump back from adversity, feeling stronger and more capable of managing life events. Sometimes, therapy can serve as a little push to access the potential you already own.
