Professional statement

Hello, My name is Hilda Dwumfuor. I am originally from Kumasi, Ghana. I was raised in

Atlanta, Georgia. I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from

Georgia State University and my Master in Social Work from Valdosta State University.

My treatment and interventions are solution-focused and prescriptive(based on the client's

individual needs). I help my clients see their self-worth, process life stressors, traumas, and

provide tools to manage and cope. Although I am a well-rounded psychotherapist, my focus is on

race-based trauma such as colorism and generational trauma, intersecting oppressions,  anxiety,

depression, PTSD, education-based stress(college age), vocational stress, financial stress

management and coaching, personal development, self-esteem, and self-worth. My population of interest are LGBTQ+ people, adolescents, children, women, black and brown people.

Modalities I use include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play

Therapy, Art Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Gestalt.
