Professional statement

Jane Cunha is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and also a Registered Art Therapist. She loves working with creatives in greater Los Angeles. Her clients include writers, directors, set designers, poets, artists, singers, songwriters, dancers, influencers, musicians and people like you! She truly believes that we are all creative beings.

She is an artist and poet who sees psychotherapy through the lens of creativity and chooses from the many types of therapy she has studied; from trauma-informed, humanistic, and person-centered approaches, to attachment-based and family systems work. Each client is unique and individual, and so their therapy is too. She is also passionate about using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, (EMDR) for trauma reduction.

Above all else, Jane realizes that the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship she will build with each client she meets. When a person is met with kindness and concern, then develops trust and hope, the therapeutic process builds strength and enacts change.

Message to clients

Every one of us is in the process of creating our life story. Often times, our lives can get off track, and we need the wisdom of a professional to help to reimagine a better path.

I am interested in how psychotherapy relates to the creative process. We can use modalities such as journaling, writing, and drawing to deepen the experience of therapy. As I begin to learn your unique story, I might suggest that art, music, or movement be added to our conversations in session or at home.

If you would rather simply have talk therapy with me, that is always your choice. I am always inspired by a client's growth and change.
