Professional statement

Jason Waterman is passionate about helping people deal with issues of anxiety, depression, addiction, habit change, self-compassion, spirituality, shame, and finding purpose in life.

Jason caters his sessions to the needs of each client. He draws upon a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy and more. He uses a trauma-informed approach that believes healing occurs in the mind and the body.

Jason is fascinated by how the human mind and body works – why do we think, speak, and act the way that we do and how do those pieces relate to one another? Who are we? What makes a life meaningful and happy? He uses an intensive Buddhist meditation practice to explore these questions in his own life, and his previous career explored these questions through behavioral economic analysis for major corporations, but he now finds great reward applying this passion towards helping others find happiness within themselves in a therapeutic setting.

Message to clients

My goal is to offer you a non-judgmental, collaborative exploration where you can tap into your own capacity to understand, heal, accept, and love yourself and others fully. You can expect to be both cared for and challenged to heal and grow. I always offer space for sharing but will also encourage different techniques and skills to experiment with in-session and implement in your life as "homework" practices. I take a no-parts-left-out approach: mind-body-spirit, thoughts-feelings-actions, physical-mental-emotional, and acceptance-change.

I use mindfulness practices as a tool to increase the efficacy of all the modalities we may implement, depending on your needs.
