Professional statement

Dr. Julia Laevsky is a licensed psychologist on Long Island, New York who works with adults via telehealth across New York and Florida. Her clients are usually the people who have it together on the outside — the ones others lean on, the ones who show up — but carry a quiet sense that something isn't quite right. They come in dealing with burnout, relationship patterns they can't break, big life changes, or a feeling they can't fully articulate that something needs to shift. Dr. Laevsky also runs a specialty series for people on GLP-1 medications like Ozempic — because the physical changes happen fast, and the emotional side often gets left behind.

Her approach is psychodynamic and relational — she's interested in what's underneath, not just the surface. Sessions aren't about checking boxes or following a script. They're about slowing down, looking honestly at what's driving the patterns, and figuring out what actually needs to change. She draws on cognitive behavioral tools when something more practical is useful, and everything is trauma-informed.

Dr. Laevsky is direct, warm, and genuinely present in sessions. She's not a blank wall — she brings herself into the room. Clients tend to describe feeling understood in a way that feels different from before. Progress here is real and lasting, not just temporary relief.

She holds a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with nearly twenty years of experience in hospitals, forensic settings, crisis teams, and the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities. She conducts evaluations for Inspire Health Alliance including Disney's Disability Access Program. She also offers focused short-term series for structured support without open-ended commitment. Sessions are currently telehealth, with in-person options on Long Island coming soon. Evening and weekend availability.

Message to clients

Something brought you here. Maybe you can't quite name it yet — just a low hum of exhaustion, or the sense that the way you've been doing things isn't working the way it used to. Maybe life looks fine from the outside and that's exactly what makes it so confusing.

I work with people who are self-aware enough to know something needs to change but haven't had the right space to figure out what. People who are good at pushing through — until they're not. People who've spent so long taking care of everything and everyone that they've lost track of themselves somewhere along the way.

I'm not going to tell you what's wrong with you or hand you a list of coping strategies and send you on your way. What I will do is actually listen — not just to what you say, but to what's underneath it. We'll slow down together and figure out what's really going on.

My hope for you is that you walk away from our work feeling more like yourself. Not a more functional version of yourself. Just more grounded, more honest with yourself, and less alone in it.

You don't need to be in crisis to reach out. You don't need to have the right words or know exactly what you're looking for. Most people who find their way here don't. What you need is a small window of willingness — and I'll meet you there.
